Concrete bollards roll out on Rodeo Drive

The city of Beverly Hills in August completed installation of 232 barriers along a busy thoroughfare in the Golden Triangle. The bollards – gray spheres of concrete 39 inches wide – now line the three blocks of Rodeo Drive north of Wilshire Boulevard as well as nearby sections of Brighton Way and Dayton Way.

“With continued and expanding activations on Rodeo Drive, the bollards are part of ensuring the safety of visitors and employees not only on Rodeo Drive but some adjacent streets,” Rodeo Drive Committee President Kay Monica Rose said.

The installation of 310 bollards was approved by the City Council in February. According to a staff report, they were proposed by the Rodeo Drive Committee and meant to replace the green K-rails that were on Rodeo Drive since 2017. The city installed the 232 spheres between June 4 and Aug. 16. The overall number was reduced to 270, and 23 were not installed due to private construction barriers while 15 were removed due to an artwork installation.
