CHICAGO — Dozens of members of the Chicago Teachers Union rallied ahead of Thursday evening’s meeting of the Chicago Board of Education that will include discussion on the teachers’ contract and address the closure of charter schools and the future of CPS CEO Pedro Martinez.
The meeting at the district’s Colman Office, at 4655 S. Dearborn St., is the last for the current Board of Education before the new partially elected board is seated in January.
Those gathered expressed concern over the planned closure of seven schools in the Acero Charter Schools network and discussed how to protect schools and students from mass deportations under the incoming Trump administration.
