Popular Illinois Pancakes Recalled After Life-Threatening Issue

If you picked up some pancakes in Illinois recently, you will want to know about an urgent recall that is now underway due to a life-threatening issue that has come up.

The Food and Drug Administration says that Illinois is one of 11 states where one of the most popular pancakes was sold and just might cause a life-threatening allergic reaction. The Quaker Oats Company in Chicago, Illinois is where this recall originated and it’s due to one of their most popular pancake lines containing undeclared milk which isn’t a problem for most, but if you have an allergy to it, it can be a serious and sometimes even life-threatening issue.

This is what the box looks like. I remember when these were called Aunt Jemima, but now they’re Pearl Milling Company.

Here are the label details:

  • Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix
  • 32 OZ (2LB) 907g
  • UPC Code 30000 65040
  • Best by date of SEP 13 25 P

The FDA bulletin says Quaker Oats was made aware of this allergy issue by one of their retail partners. The good news is that no illnesses or allergic reactions have been associated with this recall as of now and hopefully it stays that way…
