The Maryland Public Service Commission, the state agency that regulates public utilities, has the authority to make the final decision on whether the controversial Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project will be built through Baltimore, Frederick and Carroll counties.
Hundreds of property owners attended public hearings last week in all three counties voicing concerns to officials from Public Service Enterprise Group, the New Jersey-based energy company contracted by PJM, which operates and plans Maryland’s electric grid, about the $424 million high-voltage power line.
