Hundreds of Big Lots stores will apparently be saved through a sale to another discount retail chain, but it’s unclear whether any of the 18 New Jersey outlets will make that list.
Variety Wholesalers Inc., a family-owned business headquartered in North Carolina, is expected to acquire between 200 and 400 Big Lots stores and to continue operating them under that brand name. The company also is expected to purchase one or two distribution centers.
