PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — ACCT Philly is at capacity. To help more than 200 animals at the shelter find a loving home, adoption fees are being waived through Jan. 12 .
ACCT Philly wrapped up 2024 with an intake of 6,880 dogs. That’s 815 more than in 2023, and about 2,000 more than in 2022.
“Even though we are constantly saying we are full, we are constantly full,” said Sarah Barnett, executive director of ACCT. “In 2024, we actually were able to have a live release rate of 86% for the year. That means nearly 9 out of every 10 animals entering the shelter are leaving alive. We are not going to be happy until we get to a point where no healthy, adoptable, treatable animal is being euthanized.”…
