Boil water advisory in effect in town of Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A boil water advisory has been issued for parts of the town of Amsterdam following a water main break on Wallins Corners Road on Thursday. Town officials have advised residents and businesses to bring water to a rigorous boil for at least one minute prior to consumption or cooking.

The advisory is in effect until further notice for the following areas:

  • Wallins Corners Road east of Rick’s Robo Car Wash
  • Midline Road
  • Hollywood Road
  • Miami Avenue
  • Saratoga Avenue
  • Harrower Lane
  • Pioneer Street
  • Amsterdam High School

Earlier on Thursday, as crews worked to repair the break, water service had been shut off in the Harrower Area, including Amsterdam High School. Students were dismissed early.
