Police investigate tire slashings, vehicle thefts in Schenectady

Schenectady, N.Y. — Multiple tire slashings are under investigation in Schenectady’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

According to police, the slashing happened on at least two different occasions in the overnight hours. Officers initially responded to tire-slashing reports on the morning of December 28th. Police said those with cars on Norwood Ave., Willett St., Van Cortlandt St., Pennsylvania Ave., Dewitt St., and Vermont Avenue were impacted. In addition, two vehicles were stolen on Van Cortlandt Street. Both vehicles have since been recovered.

Officers responded to similar reports on January 5th. This time, in the areas of Bridge St., Pennsylvania Ave., Santa Fe St., Ten Eyck Ave., and Van Cortlandt Street. Police released surveillance photos Monday evening.
