Winter Weather Condition: Heavy Rain, Ice, and Snow Ahead for the Northeast, Upstate New York

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 10 AM Tuesday for areas north of Interstate 90, including the southern Adirondacks, southern Vermont, and the northern Berkshires. A wintry mix of snow and freezing rain is expected tonight, with light ice accumulation in some areas.

Rain will taper off overnight but resume with intensity Tuesday afternoon as multiple low-pressure systems approach. Moderate to heavy rain is forecast through Wednesday, bringing 1.5 to 2.5 inches of precipitation. Colder air moving in Wednesday night could lead to accumulating snow west of the Hudson River Valley.

A sharp temperature drop may cause flash-freeze conditions in some areas. Motorists are advised to exercise caution as weather conditions evolve rapidly.
