Cold winter weather impacting local Tucson residents, farmers

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – After a warm winter during the 2024 season, heavy winds and cold temperatures are finally giving Tucson residents a taste of winter.

While many are taking precautions to ensure they’re safe and warm, some local farmers told 13 News that contrary to popular belief, the cold weather actually does help them and their crops.

Roger Pelton, owner of Old Pueblo Cellars, operates two vineyards, one in North Tucson and one near Willcox. After a winter with temperatures in the 70s and 80s, the low temperatures will force his grapes and crops to grow better in the long run…
