Grants available for rural school districts in Idaho

MURTAUGH, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Rural school districts can apply for grants through the “Rural/Underserved Educator Incentive Program” and the “Rural Arts Grants” with the Idaho State Board of Education.

Jenn Thompson is the Idaho State Board of Education’s Chief Policy Officer. Many schools have used the rural arts grants for various projects, Thompson said.

“One school purchased a kiln so they can bring in a ceramics program for students,” Thompson said. “Other schools brought in, as I mentioned, in Castleford they brought in lighting and sound equipment so they can improve the quality of the theater arts programs they were putting on. We see a lot of schools purchasing equipment for band and band and orchestra programs.”…
