Keeping your mail safe during the holidays

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — It’s a busy time in the mailroom this year, with many packages or gifts trying to make it to their destinations before Dec. 25. However, it’s also a prime time for thieves and scammers.

During the holiday season, Patrol Officer Jason Haringsma of the Twin Falls Police Department said there are reports of mail and packages being stolen. He said criminals often look for houses with a lot of mail and packages piling up near the door or mailbox.

“Try and check your mail on a regular basis. Try and clean up whatever packages might be on their front porch. If they are not home, if they have a neighbor or family member who’s close by you, who could possibly grab something,” Officer Haringsma said…
