Jerome conducting water service line surveys to identify lead pipes

JEROME — The city of Jerome is conducting surveys of water service lines to identify any remaining lead pipes in the public water system, in compliance with Environmental Protection Agency mandates.

The inventory will cover both the city-owned and customer-owned sides of the connection, according to a press release from the city.

Voluntary customer participation in the survey will help reduce costs and meet an October deadline set by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. If needed, city officials may conduct visual inspections of service lines. Lead pipes will be scheduled for replacement…
