California doctor to plead guilty in workers compensation fraud scheme

SANTA ANA, California — A Pasadena physician has agreed to plead guilty to charges of defrauding California’s workers’ compensation fund of millions, the Justice Department announced. Dr. Kevin Tien Do, 59, is accused of continuing to work on compensation matters after a suspension due to a prior fraud conviction.

Do admitted to conspiring to defraud the state’s Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund (SIBTF) from October 2018 to February 2023, according to the Justice Department. Despite his suspension in 2018, Do continued to work for Liberty Medical Group Inc., a Rancho Cucamonga-based company, by drafting medical reports billed to the SIBTF.
