FanDuel donates $100K to Greater Valdosta United Way following Hurricane Helene

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – Many communities across South Georgia will soon receive some much-needed funding after FanDuel donated $100,000 to Greater Valdosta United Way (GVUW).

The funding will be used to aid local families and communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. Those in GVUW’s 11-county service area will receive essential services, supplies and food.

“You have kids and families that need meals, struggling with transportation, struggling with shelter,” said Michael Smith, president and CEO of GVUW. “So trying to get these dollars to the right locations quickly and effectively is going to be key. Two critical non-profits that are stepping up or those that have had damage along with starting to help individuals with gift cards and utility assistance as we move from true response to trying to move into a recovery phase and assessing the long term need.”…
