As the storm system moves towards the east coast, severe weather is expected from the Florida Gulf Coast up to Pennsylvania. The area of greatest severe threat will be through Georgia, the Carolinas, and southern Virginia. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight risk for Columbia, Charlotte, and Raleigh.
The primary threats are damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes.
Make sure to have a way to receive warnings loud enough to wake you up. A line of storms capable of producing damaging straight line winds will be moving through Alabama and Georgia in the overnight hours ahead of the cold front. By late afternoon, storms will intensify by late afternoon, headed towards the coast.
Rainfall totals will rise to 2- 4 inches in some areas by the afternoon on Monday.
Severe weather is also possible through the Mid-Atlantic and the Ohio River Valley. A few damaging wind gusts and small hail will be possible…
