Portlanders pushback on Live Nation’s proposed midsize concert venue

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Portland has a vibrant live music scene. From large venues like the Moda Center to plenty of small venues across the city. But there is a noticeable gap in the middle.

Now a proposal to create a mid-sized music venue on Portland’s Central East Side is getting a lot of pushback. All because of who would be running it.

The developers who will be purchasing the empty lot off SE Water Ave and Se Salmon Street, are teaming up with Live Nation. It’s the largest entertainment company in the world. They own Ticketmaster and countless venues across the country. But they are also currently being sued by the US Department of Justice and 40 states, for monopolizing the live concert industry…
