Timeline: Atmospheric river set to soak Portland area this weekend

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A minor to moderate atmospheric river is expected to soak the Portland, Vancouver area for the final weekend of October.

Rain showers will appear Saturday morning, but the heaviest of the wet weather is still to come. Scattered rain showers will continue Saturday with the heaviest of the rain falling before sunrise Sunday.

Rain timeline along the Willamette Valley

Scattered rain showers could be heavy at times throughout the day on Saturday. This comes as the atmospheric river keeps mild temperatures across the Portland, Vancouver area. Afternoon highs will likely stay in the mid-60s despite overcast skies and rainy conditions.

Rain showers will be widespread and at the highest rainfall rates early Sunday morning. Those persistent and soaking rains will slowly slightly during the afternoon hours on Sunday. The rain potential remains on Sunday with a few dry breaks throughout the day.

Mild temperatures will remain Sunday with highs warming into the low-60s around Portland. The cooler weather pattern doesn’t start taking shape until next week.
