FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A bacterial disease called ‘citrus greening’ has long devastated fields of oranges and grapefruits across the Sunshine State, including on the Treasure Coast.

Travis Murphy has been growing citrus for nearly 60 years on the Treasure Coast, though he says the disease has wrecked his business.

“It was devastated,” he said of his business. “We lost a thousand acres, my family did, and it’s devastated the state, not just me. I’m just one of them, one of many.”…
