MARTIN COUNTY — Moving labor and delivery services out of Cleveland Clinic Martin North hospital in Stuart to Tradition hospital in Port St. Lucie could have detrimental consequences, according to one local agency.
Cleveland Clinic in December decided to move its labor and delivery services at Martin North to Tradition starting April 1, citing a nationwide shortage of OB/GYN practitioners.
“The state of Florida is sort of, unfortunately, leading the way in this,” said Dr. Rishi Singh, vice president and chief medical officer for Martin Hospitals. “Some of it’s due to the state abortion laws. Some of it’s due to the fact that they’re just a lot of litigious situations…
