FEMA, Maxwell Air Force Base team up to stockpile hurricane relief supplies

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Maxwell Air Force Base is home to hundreds of service members that protect the country from threats overseas, but now with help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, it’s playing a role in helping those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“It’s a web of a lot of professionals working together. We have our own transportation department. And they do a great job of just organizing us,” said FEMA staging unit leader Author Manning.

Each truck can carry thousands of pounds of aid for those in need, and officials expect around 450 trucks to drop off supplies on site…
