Minnesota girl discharged from hospital 15 months after being struck by lightning in Florida

A Minnesota girl has been released from the hospital more than a year after she was struck by lightning in Florida, leaving her with permanent injuries.

Mila Vang, 13, and her mother, Nalee Yang, were both struck by lightning in August of 2023 while standing at a beach in Florida. The family had traveled to the state to celebrate Mila’s 12th birthday.

Nalee woke up shortly after the strike, but Mila was left unconscious. She underwent surgery and was brought to stable condition.
