BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – West Melbourne Police arrested 21-year-old James Tafari Crooks for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon after he allegedly chased his girlfriend through the Avasa Hammock Landings Apartments while shooting a 9mm gun in her direction.

Police say the incident happened Sunday just before midnight when he fled the scene before police arrived but was quickly located by officers near Palm Bay Road and taken into custody.

He was transported to the Brevard County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon…
