PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Thanks to Red Cross intervention, a family of five affected by a tragic house fire received financial support and health and mental health services.
According to the American Red Cross, volunteer members of the Disaster Action Team, from the Palm Beach Treasure Coast Chapter, responded to a home fire on Nov 14 which started in a garage near SW Stockton Place, in the Tradition neighborhood of Port St. Lucie.
Despite the magnitude of the tragedy, Red Cross volunteers showed up, dedicated to guiding victims on the path of recovery. Photos released by the American Red Cross reveal an ashen garage scattered with burnt belongings.
The disaster-trained team helped coordinate and not only provided health and financial assistance for the parents and three children but, also reportedly provided one-on-one support to connect people to available recovery assistance…
