Street closed for investigation after pedestrian killed in Brightline train collision

VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A person was struck and killed by a Brightline train in Vero Beach on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a street to close for an investigation.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) said at around 2:58 p.m., it was notified of the deadly collision in the area of the 12th Street railroad, between US1 Hwy 1 and Old Dixie Hwy.

The sheriff’s office said the person was pronounced dead at the scene by fire rescue personnel, and the pedestrian’s name has not been released to the public, pending next of kin…
