After a 2024 in which Texas made massive strides as a leader in renewable energy , a new report shows the state is charting the course in wind generation capacity and faring very well in both solar generation and battery storage capacity .
According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) analayzed by Cleanview, and via multiple reports , Texas has installed 80 percent more solar, wind and battery capacity combined than the next largest state. The Lone Star State is followed by California, Florida, Arizona and Colorado in total renewable capacity in the new data.
Cleanview’s analysis of EIA data shows that about 93 percent of new capacity added in 2024 came from either solar, batteries or wind. In two of those three metrics—wind and solar—Texas leads the nation. The state now has about 19,000 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity, 14,000 MW of wind capacity and 6,200 MW of battery capacity…
