VC Fine Arts Gallery hosts solo exhibition featuring Sonya McAlister’s works

A solo exhibition by Victoria College Art Instructor Sonya McAlister, “N 28° 48’ 54.85’’. E 96° 58’ 47.935’ Waypoints,” is now on display at VC’s Fine Arts Gallery.

McAlister’s artwork explores themes of connection, temporality, perception and experience. She approaches her work experimentally, often creating new methods and processes within the two-dimensional plane.

In her current work, McAlister creates primitive drawing tools found in nature and then intuitively responds to the landscapes where they are collected. Her drawings and paintings represent the markings of an exchange between the artist and her natural surroundings…
