Marietta Man Accused of Felony Escape

Dustin Lane Weaver, 31, of Marietta, is accused of escaping from the back seat of a police patrol car while under arrest for possession of methamphetamine on Sept. 13 at 7:10 p.m. at a retail property at 2040 Macland Crossing Circle SW in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Weaver ran about 5-10 feet, while in handcuffs, before being stopped by the police officer. The back right passenger side door had been opened by the officer to give Weaver some water. Weaver is also accused of possessing a small dime-sized plastic bag containing 1.1 grams of methamphetamine in his front right pants pocket. Weaver admitted that the contents were methamphetamine, according to the warrant.

Weaver is charged with possession of methamphetamine; and felony escape. He was arrested on Sept. 13 at 7:10 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
