Wanted Georgia Man Fatally Shot After Firing at DeSoto County Deputies During Arrest Attempt

A situation unfolded in DeSoto County when local law enforcement was alerted to the presence of a wanted individual from Georgia. According to a social media post by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia informed them that Matthew Steven Rollie, born September 30, 1994, was in the jurisdiction of DeSoto County. Rollie was wanted for enticing a child for indecent purposes and was also noted as a sexual offender who had failed to register locally.

Despite a thorough search by the Criminal Investigative Division and Uniformed Patrol Division, Rollie wasn’t found right away. Early yesterday, two deputies followed a lead and stopped a vehicle on State Road 72 between Thigpen Road and Addison Avenue.
