Stockton Downs Alvernia, 3-2

Galloway, N.J. (September 21, 2024) – Alvernia University (4-3) dropped a non-conference field hockey matchup to Stockton University (2-5) 3-2, Saturday afternoon at Stockton.

The Osprey netted a goal in the first four minutes of the game and then scored two third quarter goals en route to a 3-2 victory over the Golden Wolves. 

How it Happened 

  • Stockton netted a goal in the first four minutes when Carlee Thompson assisted Kiera Lyons to make it 1-0 Stockton early. 
  • The Golden Wolves leveled the score in the 11th minute after Caroline Martin found the back of the net thanks to an assist from Ava Michael that made it 1-1 heading into the second quarter. 
  • Stockton tallied four shots in the second quarter but did not score as the Golden Wolves and the Osprey headed to the half tied at one. 
  • Stockton grabbed the lead in the 41st minute when Ameera Bilgrami assisted Olivia Catalano to make it 2-1. 
  • The Golden Wolves leveled the score again just two minutes later when Kathryn Palmer assisted Abbie Buck to make it a 2-2 game with under three minutes left in the third quarter. 
  • Stockton then responded under a minute later to make it a 3-2 game and secure the one goal victory over the Golden Wolves.
