Portable sanitary facilities company Diamond Environmental hosted an electric truck showcase event on Dec. 12 at its San Marcos dispatch facility. The event highlighted the company’s four new Class 4-5 medium-duty, battery-electric Rizon trucks, engineered by Daimler Truck and funded through the Short-Haul Zero-Emission Truck Pilot Project, which is administered by the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District.
Attendees Experience Rizon Trucks Firsthand
Attendees took part in a ride-and-drive session with Diamond Environmental drivers, which Rizon says let them experience the technology, safety features, and driver comfort of the Rizon trucks. They were able to test the all-electric, medium-duty commercial vehicle, explore the touchscreen navigation, and experience the ergonomically designed seating.
City officials from San Marcos, including Mayor Rebecca Jones, Hunter McDonald, Land Use Policy Advisor from the San Diego County Supervisor’s Office, City Council Member Ed Musgrove, Tess Sangster, San Marcos Community and Economic Development Director, and Travis Arciaga, from the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District, attended the event alongside Diamond Environmental and RIZON USA staff.
Flexible Truck Designs for Sanitary Facility Transport
Diamond Environmental selected the cabover stakebed/flatbed style for two of their trucks, offering flexibility for transporting portable toilet facilities, sinks, and other sanitary supplies. Fast charging options minimize downtime for daily delivery routes, achieving a range of up to 160 miles on a single charge.
“Rizon trucks are perfect for our daily local operations and align with our environmental and sustainability goals. Thanks to San Diego County’s incentive programs, we could economically make the transition to electromobility,” said Alex Fortunati, CEO of Diamond Environmental. “Our drivers have given positive feedback, praising Rizon trucks’ comfort and safety features, as well as a quiet, emission-free ride.”
