Family of the 6-year-old domestic violence victim in Bridgeport places blame on DCF

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) – The family of Jathan Escobar, the 6-year-old who was allegedly beaten with a bat at home, blames the Connecticut Department of Children and Families for not intervening.

Jathan’s family said they reported to the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) that these children did not feel safe and were living in a violent home.

Sasha Heron, Jathan’s cousin, said, “We hold DCF responsible because we made reports and we asked for wellness checks. They failed to check on him after missing a month of school.”…
