7-Eleven clerk shot, hospitalized in San Leandro store robbery

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. ( KRON ) — A 7-Eleven employee was shot in the stomach during a store robbery early Wednesday morning. The San Leandro Police Department said the robbery occurred at a 7-Eleven store on Williams Street and San Leandro Boulevard at about 5:15 a.m.

San Leandro police received calls of shots fired and that a 7-Eleven store clerk had been shot. Responding police officers arrived to find the store clerk suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Initial investigations allowed police to assume the shooting happened following an attempted robbery. Police said the alleged robber tried to rob the store clerk and that he and the store clerk got into “a brief struggle” before the suspect shot the clerk in the stomach.

SPD said the store clerk was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition…
