Kyle Shanahan Admits He Has PTSD From Chiefs Super Bowl Losses

Can you believe we’re six weeks through the 2024-25 NFL Season already? Well, to open up Week 7, the Chiefs and 49ers will play in a Super Bowl rematch at Levi’s Stadium this upcoming Sunday. San Francisco’s head coach Kyle Shanahan obviously watched the film back of the Super Bowl loss in order to prepare for this week. He claims the SB losses to the Chiefs give him PTSD.

“I think everyone understands we’ve lost two Super Bowls to them, so I mean that can give a little post-traumatic stress when you turn on the tape, but I think that’s human nature but you’ve got to make sure you don’t get caught up in that,” Shanahan said. “This game has nothing to do with past games, that was last year.

“We’re playing a really good AFC opponent, we’re .500 right now and we want to stay atop our division and get a win. You think about that stuff going into it, but in terms of what plays out in a game, it really has no correlation and you try and make sure that it doesn’t.”

Dear, Kyle Shanahan: Come Work With Me

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I genuinely feel bad for Shanahan. He’s a damn good coach and his helped guide his teams to three Super Bowls. In all three occasions, he tried to beat Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes with Matt Ryan, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Brock Purdy being outgunned at quarterback each time.

Then again, maybe it’s wrong to feel bad for him considering the 49ers passed on Mahomes on draft day because they got too horny for a possible pursuit of Kirk Cousins……
