Officers released a 70-year-old man to his wife 1:20 p.m. Jan. 12 after he crashed his car into a fire hydrant near the police station. An off-duty officer saw it and called the police station to report seeing the incident. When an on-duty officer arrived, the man asked him to give him a break because he had been drinking.
