New Fall River Community Action Suppression Team results in arrest on several gun charges

Fall River Police made a gun arrest this week thanks to a newly formed team.

According to Det. Sergeant Matthew Mendes, on Tuesday, members of the Fall River Police Department Community Action Suppression Team (CAST) were on proactive patrol in the area of Pulaski Park due to community complaints about occurrences of suspicious activity occurring in the park.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., members of the unit observed several males standing on the sidewalk of Pulaski Street, just outside of the entrance to the park. Two of the males, one wearing a hooded sweatshirt and the other wearing a “sheisty style” ski mask were observed to be intently monitoring motorist as they passed by and were observed displaying behavioral characteristics consistent with individuals who illegally possess firearms.
