Ladies Night Out in Vinton Ends with Performance at The Niche

VINTON — Many downtown Vinton businesses participated in a holiday shopping night, just for the ladies on Thursday Dec. 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This year’s “Ladies Night Out” in Vinton ended with a benefit and a 7:00 performance of “The Vagina Monologues” at The Niche.

Eight local women performed the play to over 100 people. Performers included: Maureen Boddicker, Tressa Walton, Kellie Roberts, Amber Grant, Riley Pflughaupt, Le Cox, Debbie White, and Erin Stark. Public Health Director Grace Schmidt was also in attendance for this event and spoke about some of the issues women face, including “period poverty.”

The event was organized by Tressa Walton, who had seen a performance of “The Vagina Monologues” at UNI over 20 years ago, and remembers it as a “very powerful experience” that stayed with her all of this time. After approaching several local ladies and receiving positive feedback, the group decided to make the event a fundraiser for feminine products for the Benton County Public Health Department…
