Gas prices continue favorable trend from last week before Labor Day in Watertown

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Gas prices continue to trend downward with a six-cent drop just before Labor Day with the latest weekly release on Monday.

According to AAA of Western and Central New York, the average cost of a gallon of gas in Watertown is $3.49. This is down six cents from last week, which is the second-highest drop in the region. Elmira saw its average gas price fall by nine cents to $3.26.

Labor Day travel: Plan ahead — and be nice

Here’s a breakdown of gas prices from across the region:

  • Batavia – $3.56 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Buffalo – $3.52 (down 4 cents from last Monday)
  • Elmira – $3.26 (down 9 cents from last Monday)
  • Ithaca – $3.57 (down 4 cents from last Monday)
  • Rochester – $3.57 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Rome – $3.60 (down 3 cents from last Monday)
  • Syracuse – $3.48 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Watertown – $3.49 (down 6 cents from last Monday)

Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.35, down six cents from last week. One year ago, the price was $3.82. The state average is $3.50, down four cents from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.91.

For drivers who use diesel fuel, the national average price for diesel is $3.70, down three cents from last Monday. The New York average is $4.15, down two cents from last Monday…
