Col. Barry N. Hansen (USAF Ret.)

Barry died peacefully at home after a 5-month, rare cervical disorder resulting in almost total paralysis. He was born in Eau Claire, WI, and moved to California with his parents James A.”Al” Hansen and C.Sylvia Ness at the end of WW II. Barry graduated from Santa Cruz High School (62), San Jose State University (BS Chemistry), and University of Utah (MS Engineering Management) and enlisted in the US Air Force in 1967. He quickly rose through the ranks, retiring in 1994 after 27 years of service. Barry had multiple assignments in Utah, the Philippines, Vietnam, Arizona, Florida, and Washington DC. He commanded a missile launch crew with SAC, managed the Nuclear Weapons Division of DIA, served as Assistant for Arms Control Verification to the Secretary of Defense, and was a member of INF and START delegations in Geneva, Switzerland during the nuclear arms control negotiations with the Soviet Union.
