Illinois High Wind Warning: Gusts Up to 60 MPH Expected in Chicago and Northwest Indiana Through Saturday

Chicago, IL – Strong winds are set to impact the Chicago area and parts of northwest Indiana through Saturday, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). A Wind Advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday, followed by a High Wind Watch through Saturday afternoon.

According to the NWS, south winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, will develop Friday evening across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. By Saturday morning, winds could strengthen further, with sustained speeds of 30 to 40 mph and gusts reaching 60 mph.

The advisory and watch cover multiple counties, including Cook, DuPage, Lake, and Will in Illinois, as well as Lake and Porter counties in Indiana.
