Chelan County to conduct 62-acre prescribed burn near Wenatchee

WENATCHEE – Chelan County officials have announced plans for a controlled burn in the Stemilt Community Forest to improve forest health and reduce wildfire risks. The operation, covering 62 acres of county-owned land, is scheduled to begin as early as the week of September 23.

Chelan County Natural Resources will conduct the prescribed burn in collaboration with the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department and the Washington Department of Natural Resources. The targeted area is located near Upper Basin Loop and Pole Flats roads.
