Wenatchee Valley College honors outstanding faculty and staff

During the WVC President’s Day Kickoff Celebration on September 17, outstanding faculty and staff at Wenatchee Valley College were honored for their contributions.

Professor Janna Goodyear received the Alcoa Excellence in Teaching Award, which includes a $1,500 monetary prize from Alcoa, lunch with the WVC Board of Trustees on October 16, and recognition at their meeting. Since 2015, Goodyear has been teaching student development skills and English courses at WVC, in addition to serving as the WriteLab director. She was recognized for her work with the WVC Title V program and a two-year SBCTC project aimed at learning anti-racist pedagogy and creating an anti-racist English 101 course.

The Linda Schultz Herzog Faculty of the Year Award was presented to Will Kraske, a math faculty member at the Omak campus. Kraske will receive a $1,500 monetary award from the Frank J. and Loretta Hoff Schultz Endowment Fund, lunch with the WVC Board of Trustees on October 16, and recognition at their meeting. Teaching at WVC Omak since 2015, Kraske has worked to expand the math program to include a calculus series and physics courses. Tria Skirko, the electronic services librarian at the Omak campus, praised him, saying, “He’s just genuine in everything he does…. He’s a real asset to our campus.”…
