Driver arrested after allegedly hitting Springfield officer with vehicle

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) — A Chicopee woman is facing charges after allegedly hitting a Springfield police officer with her vehicle over the weekend.

Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that an officer was working an extra pedestrian and traffic control detail outside MassMutual Center on Saturday around 4:15 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle, allegedly driven by 30-year-old Taysia Williamson of Chicopee, stopped at a red light on State Street, at the intersection of Main Street.

The officer reportedly told Williamson that she was not able to make a left turn onto Main Street from the lane in which she was stopped. “Williamson is alleged to have driven her vehicle into the officer who landed on the hood of the car,” Walsh explained, adding that she then allegedly drive away from the scene.
