Trinity Health, Baystate Health update masking policies

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – An increase in viral respiratory illnesses has prompted two local health systems to update their masking policies.

Trinity Health Of New England is now “strongly” recommending that employees, patients, or visitors wear a mask in patient-facing settings, including their hospitals and ambulatory locations. Mercy Medical Center spokesperson Mary Orr added that the recommendation includes Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, and Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group offices.

Trinity Health explained that the move comes as “a result of the recent uptick in cases of upper respiratory tract illnesses that have been reported across Trinity Health Of New England facilities in Connecticut and Massachusetts.”…
