SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — For the first time in more than 30 years, Salt Lake City will be updating what days the city’s Waste and Recycling Division will be collecting curbside trash.

According to city officials, the new pick-up schedule will begin on Monday, Feb. 3, and will allow for the heaviest workloads to occur in the middle of the week when the City’s equipment and workforce resources are the most robust.

So when should you put your trash bins out to the curb? See below for the new schedule:

  • Residents who currently have a Monday pickup will switch to Tuesdays.
  • Residents who currently have a Tuesday pickup will switch to Mondays.
  • Residents who currently have a Wednesday pickup will switch to Fridays.
  • Residents who currently have a Thursday pickup will not switch.
  • Residents who currently have a Friday pickup will switch to Wednesdays.

“When it comes to essential services like waste and recycling, we know that residents value reliability and efficiency above all else,” said Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall. “This new schedule will directly lead to more consistency in service and fewer disruptions due to inclement weather or unexpected events, making it a no-brainer for our city.”…
