Bulldog’s Conference Opener Ends in a Tie

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech’s CUSA conference opener ended in a scoreless draw against WKU on Friday night at Robert Mack Caruthers Field. After a combined 27 shots, Tech and WKU could not get a goal on the board in the 0-0 draw.

Tech and WKU started the games with strong attacks after both teams collected seven shots in the first half. Kalli Matlock and Tal Faingezicht had a pair of shots saved by WKU goalkeeper Maddie Davis. WKU’s Kayla Meyer sent a shot to the dead center of the goal, but Cadence Rutledge made the save, keeping the game at 0-0. In the closing minutes of the first half, Matlock would make a clutch save as a ball got past the outreached arms of Rutledge, helping Tech go into halftime with a score of 0-0.

Rutledge, in the second half, had four major saves for the Bulldogs after the Hilltoppers produced six shots in the second half. In the second half, Matlock and Faingezicht could not connect on both of their shots as WKU’s Davis earned herself two more saves. Faingezicht’s shot in the 89th minute would have secured Tech a win, but she could not connect with her shot…
