A Columbus man who was the getaway driver in an October 2022 gas station shooting that killed a Youngstown State University honors student, will spend at least nine years in prison.
Tommie Wilkerson Jr., 21, of North Linden, pleaded guilty Monday to felonious assault with a five-year firearm specification and was sentenced to nine to 11 years in prison in connection with the deadly shooting of 21-year-old Kevin Sobnosky of Mahoning County. Sobnosky was sitting in a vehicle and had no connection with the groups of people involved in the shooting.
On Oct. 30, 2022, Sobnosky was at a Sheetz gas station at around 3:45 a.m. on Cassady Avenue with three of his friends when a shootout between two groups of people erupted.
