If you’re cold, they’re cold: Animal shelters concerned about impending winter weather

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Some local agencies in charge of sheltering abandoned and rescued animals are expressing concern about the colder forecast for the rest of the week.

“Whenever there’s a winter weather advisory, we always know that we’re in for some hurting as far as how many animals we’re bringing in,” said Jane Macmurchy of Animal Charity of Ohio.

Animal Charity of Ohio is already housing 150 dogs in its kennels and well over 200 animals altogether, but agents admit the problems aren’t just with available space.

“Even though we’re in this building and we have places where we can set up temporary kennels, you have to have the staffing,” said Macmurchy…
