MIDDLETOWN — After suffering a mid-week overtime loss to the New Britain Golden Hurricanes on Wednesday, the Newington Nor’Easters boys basketball team responded with a 75-56 victory against the Middletown Blue Dragons on Friday, improving to 5-3 on the season and earning their second win against the Blue Dragons this season.
In Newington’s win, junior big man Josiah Sims had a career-night as he set a career-high in points scored in a single game in his career, as he scored 35 points in the win. His previous game-high was 25 points in a game last season as a sophomore.
Sims said he was fueled by Wednesday’s loss against New Britain, a game he and the team believe they should have won as they prepared for the Blue Dragons two days later. He wasn’t surprised with his career night as he feels he is finally starting to unlock his potential as an upperclassmen…
