An Essex County woman who worked as a manager for a Bergen County bank has been charged with allegedly stealing nearly $70,000 from her employer and a customer, officials said.
Amira T. White, 43, of Belleville, was charged on Jan. 8 with two counts of third-degree theft by deception after she surrendered to detectives at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the prosecutor’s office said in a release on Friday.
The arrest came after the prosecutor’s Financial Crimes Unit was contacted in March 2024 regarding alleged thefts at the bank, officials said. An investigation found White allegedly stole $54,648 from cash boxes at the bank that were maintained by her, officials said.
